Rochdale Sports Clubs

Ash is head of EdStart Rochdale, managing a bustling team of 15 sports coaches…and counting! He originally joined EdStart as a coach, driven by his love of sport and the positive impact it can have on children – helping build their confidence and fitness. Ash’s other reason for becoming an EdStart franchisee was to prove to himself that he could be in charge of his own team. Having grew up in Rochdale since he was 5 years old, he wanted to put back into the community what he got out of it, which was a great sports education from an early age. For Ash the best thing about working with children is the reaction he sees when a child succeeds at something and the opportunity to watch them develop over a number of weeks, months or even years.
His top tip for anyone looking to become the next EdStart franchisee is that 100% commitment is needed. You have to put the hours in to get your name out there, but the rewards are massive. And it’s this attitude that’s seen Ash’s Rochdale team go from strength to strength – with Ash himself winning the ‘Compassion in the Community’ award at the Rochdale Business awards 2018. Since becoming a dad, Ash loves spending time with his son and enjoys watching and playing football and volleyball.
