Wellbeing through sport...

At EdStart we are not only passionate about developing physical health but also good mental health.  We have recently devised a programme of work with Team Mental Health (team of child / adolescent and forensic psychiatrists) to develop wellbeing through the vehicle of sport.

Throughout the programme children will develop an understanding of Core Life Skills and learn how to apply these in a range of sporting and social contexts. Covering areas such as empathy, conflict resolution, assertiveness and emotional awareness children will not only develop excellent core life skills but complete 45mins of physical activity at the same time!

Every child’s progress is monitored throughout the programme through task sheets provided at the end of each lesson.  Children will also be asked to complete an Emotional Intelligence survey at the start and end of the programme (developed by The Imperial College of London) to help measure the impact of the course.
