EdStart Sports Coaching
EdStart support schools in offering full coverage of the primary P.E curriculum, a wide range of afterschool sports clubs as well as an innovative new health and fitness programme specifically targeted to suit young people. Alongside our work with schools we also run some amazing holiday clubs too! Opening in 2007, we now proudly deliver our services across the North West of England growth continues year on year. Our aim is to improve the skills of children in every area of PE that we teach and develop life-long positive attitudes to sport, physical activity and healthy living. Our approach is designed to make sessions fun and accessible to each individual child.
With various academic and vocational qualifications being offered our aim is to re-engage young people, creating opportunities which lead to reintegration to school, further education or employment. Each pupil receives an individual learning plan and is supported throughout the programme by our highly skilled teachers, learning mentors and youth workers.
Wellbeing through sport...
At EdStart we are not only passionate about developing physical health but also good mental health. We have recently devised a programme of work with Team Mental Health (team of child / adolescent and forensic psychiatrists) to develop wellbeing through the vehicle of sport.
Throughout the programme children will develop an understanding of Core Life Skills and learn how to apply these in a range of sporting and social contexts. Covering areas such as empathy, conflict resolution, assertiveness and emotional awareness children will not only develop excellent core life skills but complete 45mins of physical activity at the same time!
Every child’s progress is monitored throughout the programme through task sheets provided at the end of each lesson. Children will also be asked to complete an Emotional Intelligence survey at the start and end of the programme (developed by The Imperial College of London) to help measure the impact of the course.
